The Department of Physics and Astronomy at Bowling Green State University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level available in August 2024. We seek an astronomer or astrophysicist committed to teaching undergraduate physics majors, astronomy minors, and general education students; to mentoring undergraduate and graduate research projects; and to developing a strong, independent research program in any field of Astronomy or Astrophysics.
Required Qualifications: A Ph.D. in Astronomy, Astrophysics or a closely related field (e.g., Physics) is required, as is primary research experience related to Astronomy or Astrophysics at any wavelength (observational, theoretical, computational, or experimental, including data science), and a demonstrated record of research productivity through multiple publications in peer-reviewed journals.
Preferred Qualifications include: Postdoctoral research experience beyond that obtained as a doctoral student; demonstrated experience with active learning pedagogies; experience teaching college-level Astronomy or Physics courses as instructor of record.
