Tenure Track Astronomy Faculty

Agnes Scott College Department of Physics & Astronomy invites applications for a full-time tenure-track faculty position for fall of 2023.  Candidates should have a PhD in Astronomy, Physics, or a closely related field.

Applicants should be able to teach a wide range of astronomy and physics courses at all undergraduate levels, offer engaging research opportunities to undergraduate students, and emphasize equity and inclusion for students with marginalized identities in the physical sciences.  Applicants should present evidence of commitment to excellent undergraduate teaching, with at least 2 years of experience. The 3/2 teaching load includes experimental, theoretical, and applied courses in astronomy and physics at the introductory, intermediate, and advanced undergraduate levels, along with contributions to SUMMIT, the college’s global learning and leadership development initiative. Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to working with a socially and economically diverse student population.

An ideal candidate would make use of on- and off-campus astronomical resources and partnerships, such as the Southeastern Association for Research in Astronomy (SARA) and Radio Astronomy Data Imaging and Analysis Lab (RADIAL).
