Job Description

The Exoplanet Science group at SRON is looking for an ambitious scientist with deep knowledge on exoplanet observations and an affinity with instrumentation.

The position we offer is a tenure track position in the exoplanet science group. You will have the opportunity to help shape the ambitions and direction of the scientific research of the group. Most importantly, you will conduct independent research in the area of exoplanet science. We seek candidates that like to operate at the intersection of science and instrumentation. The joined expertise of the exoplanet and instrument science groups at SRON allows deep understanding of both the instrumentation and of exoplanet atmospheres. We anticipate that you will interface with each of the groups, depending on the type of work and phase of the projects you are involved in. We fully realize that this is a broad skillset, and we therefore specifically encourage applicants that have the ambition to broaden their expertise.

Specifically for this position we are looking for someone that will work with observations from JWST and prepare for the Ariel Space Telescope. You will work with the Ariel project at SRON and you will preferentially play a central role in the analysis of data from JWST in collaboration with the Dutch exoplanet community. There is significant flexibility to fill these roles in various ways given your specific expertise and interest.

The position we offer at SRON is a full-time tenure track position. The position will be initially for 4 years with a permanent position after that if the tenure track requirements, to be agreed at the start, are fulfilled. This position is placed in salary scale 12 (maximum € 5.990,- gross per month on a full-time basis).
