Lecturer in Physics and Astronomy

The Department of Physics, Astronomy and Geophysics at Connecticut College invites applications for a long-term, non-tenure track appointment at the rank of Lecturer beginning Fall 2023. This is a nine-month, academic year position. We seek individuals who have recently completed their PhD (or are nearing the completion of their PhD) in physics, astronomy, or related fields with a strong commitment to teach in a liberal-arts environment. The positions will include a combination of courses across our curriculum such as courses in the introductory physics sequence for both majors and non-majors, introductory astronomy, overseeing introductory observational labs, teaching upper-level courses (including a course with an emphasis on experimental and/or observational techniques in astronomy). Course proposals making use of the existing 20-inch telescope are encouraged, but not required. The successful candidate is expected to contribute to the college’s “Connections” program by offering a first-year seminar and/or a general-interest “ConnCourse”.
